Andi-Ventis Ltd is a leading pharmaceutical company specializing in the respiratory area. The company is the patent holder of the Miat-Haler® Dry Powder Inhaler (DPI). The Miat-Haler® is an original patented portable multi-dose reservoir type DPI for effective drug delivery to and through the lungs. The patents cover the device itself, the inter-locking mechanism and the de-aggregation system. The company focuses on the use of its DPI in the respiratory field in the management of asthma and COPD.

The Miat-Haler® could be used for delivering several drugs in a number of therapeutic areas, such as hormones, peptides and anti-diabetics and is patented in Europe and many other countries including the USA. The main features of the Miat-Haler® are ease of use, efficacy, safety, and efficiency.

The production of Andi-Ventis is carried out at a dedicated purpose build facility. The facility has been designed to comply with all current and anticipated European Union Good Manufacturing Practices (EU GMP) and it is GMP certified. The production units are also designed so as to fully comply with current, and anticipated regulatory requirements, for protecting the product and the personnel as well as the environment from the product. Use is made of the most modern technology to ensure efficient operation, and to be as energy efficient as possible.

Andi-Ventis cooperates with centres of excellence in the field of lung diseases such as Universities and qualified delivery technology companies. Corporate profile
Andi-Ventis Ltd was established in 2001 as a joint venture between the largest pharmaceutical company of Cyprus, Medochemie Ltd and Miat S.p.A. of Italy, a long established specialised pharmaceutical company, to carry out the pharmaceutical and clinical development, the registration and production of inhaled formulations utilizing the Miat-Haler® originally developed by Miat S.p.A.

Product and Products Development
Andi-Ventis currently manufactures Taunus® a Beclomethasone Propionate DPI, a corticosteroid used for asthma treatment which is developed exclusively for the Japanese market. The company has also completed the registration process and received market authorisation licences for many countries for Frenolyn® Budesonide DPI, also a corticosteroid used for asthma treatment.

The company also has an extensive product pipeline with several other products in various stages of development and expects to receive further market authorisations in 2008. The expertise and know how of Andi-Ventis allows the company to undertake device development when modifications are required for specific formulations, formulation development and scale-up from laboratory development to commercial manufacturing, to carry-out required stability studies, clinical development of products and also regulatory affairs aspects to enable product registration and finally production.
