Cyprus welcomes investor interest in education. Cyprus is committed to further strengthening education and is focusing on reforms to achieve sustainable growth. The Ministry of Education and Culture is harmonising the education system in line with the European Standards & Guidelines for Quality Assurance.

The Cyprus Council for the Recognition of Higher Education Qualifications (www.kysats.ac.cy) has been established since 1996.

• 3 public Universities, including one Open University, and 3 private Universities
• 43 tertiary educational institutions, 34 private and 9 public
• 345 public and 28 private primary schools (2007/08)
• 126 public and 36 private secondary schools (2007/08)
• 48% of Cypriots have a tertiary educational level (2008)
• 52% of Cypriot tertiary students studied abroad (2009)
• 30,2% of tertiary students in Cyprus come from abroad (2008)

• The higher education system in Cyprus is shaped by the European Higher Education Area as outlined in the Bologna Process
• In 2007, 7.4% of the GDP was spent on education
