From a strategic standpoint, Weatherford has two key objectives--efficiency and productivity. Weatherford strives for efficiency, both in terms of delivering results for its clients as well as leveraging its worldwide infrastructure. The ultimate goal in both cases is to help reduce costs and increase well productivity. As well, Weatherford has created a more streamlined organizational structure to continue a push towards greater individual productivity levels through more intensive recruiting, training and retention. 
 

One of the largest oilfield services companies, Weatherford operates in more than 100 countries and employs more than 50,000 people worldwide, with 800 service bases and 16 technology development and training facilities. Cyprus has become a regional hub for Weatherford’s pipeline division which also has other regional offices in Canada, United States, Mexico, Brazil, UK, Dubai, Singapore, Russia and Australia, with over 3000 full time employees. Weatherford pipeline division has grown from 2 regional bases in 2002 to a total of 20 locations worldwide with revenues over $250,000,000 per annum.

 

The Cyprus operation is located at the Industrial Free zone. Weatherford is a project driven company that must be able to move asset all over the world and the Cyprus Industrial Free Zone, allows such flexibility.  The free zones are established in an effort to encourage external trade and international commerce through the provision of various incentives such as the abolishment of custom duties and taxes in respect of goods imported into the zones.

 

 

The Cyprus office is both an active operational base with a primary focus on equipment repair and maintenance, as well as project management team that operates around the globe. Weatherford currently employs 15 full time personnel with varied levels of expertise. This includes 6 local Cypriot based personnel and 9 rotational personnel, from all over the world. They are planning to hire additional people in the next several years with a target of 20-30 full time staff.
