Meeting between CIPA and a delegation of high-level businessmen and dignitaries from the Chinese Province of Xi' an

The Cyprus Investment Promotion Agency (CIPA) hosted a meeting between a high-level business delegation comprised of Chinese businessmen and government dignitaries from the Xi’an Province and Cypriot Enterprises specialized in International trade. The meeting, which took place in Limassol on November 29th, 2011 was arranged in collaboration with the Limassol Chamber of Commerce and Industry, where the Chinese delegation, led by Mr. Wang Qiwen, Deputy Director General of the Standing Committee of Xi’an People’s Congress and Mr. Yongke Zhang, President of the Xi’an Chamber of Commerce for the Promotion of International Trade, received a warm welcome by the representatives of CIPA and the President of the Limassol Chamber, Mr. Philokypros Andreou.
During the meeting, CIPA presented the investment environment of Cyprus along with a brief overview on large scale investment projects available for foreign investment. The meeting furthermore constituted a platform for building trust and relations by exchanging ideas on bilateral collaboration between Cyprus and Xi’an Province in addressing opportunities in the sectors of trade, energy, shipping, livestock-farming, real-estate and business development.
Mr. Qiwen Wang, head of the Chinese delegation stated that Cyprus can offer many opportunities to China due to its strategic location as a EU member state and expressed a strong interest in enhancing its cooperation with CIPA in order to establish bilateral commercial ties between the two countries. The Chinese dignitary further informed the audience of three upcoming International Forums, which are being organized in March/April 2012 in Xi’an district and invited all participants and the Cypriot business community to take part in the events.
The Meeting concluded with a tour of the Limassol Marina Project, which was received by the Chinese delegation with great interest.
