Cyprus at a glance

According to the 2008 Country Report, Dun and Bradstreet ranks Cyprus with a rating of “DB2d”.  The Report indicates that besides the entry into the Euro-zone, the investment landscape in Cyprus is preferable due to the following factors: benign investment climate benefits; the island’s strategic location; a well-qualified labor force and a reliable telecommunications system.

Additionally, the Report points out that if the “good prospect” continues to exist, “it will move the risk indicator toward the higher end of the DB2 category” before 2008, matching the ratings of France, Ireland and UK and making Cyprus an even more attractive destination for investment. Pertaining to the double taxation regime, the Report indicates the treaties Cyprus has signed with 43 jurisdictions.  This development allows investors to register their companies in Cyprus while operating abroad, consequently enjoying the low 10% corporate tax — the lowest in EU — that is here to stay.
